WPPI 2011: Yuma Photographer

I just wanted to share a few words about my experience at WPPI 2011 in Las Vegas. For those of you who aren’t familiar WPPI stands for Wedding and Portrait Photographers International. Every year WPPI holds a conference and trade show. This year was my first year to attend and it was a fabulous experience! I went with my good friend Tawnee Miller of Serendipity Photography. We attended a few classes, got to check out new products and gear at the trade show and met many cool photographers from all over.

One of the platform classes we attended was Jasmine Star‘s class. For those of you not familiar, Jasmine  is a very talented wedding photographer based in Orange County, California. I have followed her blog for a few years now so it was great to hear her speak in person. She is one of those people that is so inspirational yet so down to earth. We enjoyed her presentation and got to meet her afterwards. Here is a photo I took while at Jasmine’s class.

Another awesome photographer we got to hear speak was Lindsay Adler. She is a fashion photographer, but she also does portrait and wedding photography in New York. She talked about incorporating fashion photography techniques into portrait and wedding photography. It was a very interesting class and she inspired me to try some new things in my photography.

I am so glad I got to go to WPPI this year. Photography is an ever changing field and I think it is important to attend workshops and events like WPPI in order to keep up with current trends and techniques. I also got to check out some album companies and other print products that I will be offering to my clients very soon 🙂
